Palliative Care and Hospice Care:

Palliative care and hospice care are all about living - not just "the final days of life"and this relationship is best started at the time of diagnosis or the first signs of decline. There are so many things we can do to help make pets feel better, and the earlier care is started, the better!

Care is appropriate if your pet has:

  • an incurable illness such as cancer

  • a progressive or long-term disease such as kidney disease or heart failure

  • a disease for which diagnostics or aggressive therapy options have been declined in lieu of comfort care

  • a long-term disability such as neurologic disease or arthritis

  • a geriatric status

Having a team in place at the time of diagnosis offers the care needed and ensures you and your pet are fully supported.  We work closely with you to help you understand what is happening, what can be expected, and empower you to provide care when the team is not present.

We share our skills and experiences to support you in making the most appropriate choices for your pet. Our focus is to return the center of care to your home while offering the best possible control of pain and symptoms.

We also provide families with a "Comfort Kit" which contains injectable pain medication + sedation that can be administered by you in the event of an emergency.

Education is a cornerstone, and we discuss what to expect with the disease process, how to recognize pain or a decline in condition, and ensure you know what to anticipate during the final stages of your pet's life.

We also problem solve, such as finding alternative ways to give medications to pets who are unwilling to take them by mouth. We will be there to fully support you and ensure that we do everything possible for you, your family, and your pet.

Our staff has exceptional training and unparalleled experience when it comes to managing complex medical issues that are present at end of life. We work collaboratively with you and your veterinarian to provide the most complete care possible.

We are a family-centered service that can help you and your pet live life with continual support, comfort, and meaning. We believe that hospice care should be focused just as equally on living, and our goal is to meet your pet's unique needs and provide quality of life in every single moment.
